Yes. That's the gist of my fire-setting argument XD I think a lot of people are comparing things to the iPad because of it's RDF, and how willing people are to give it room in every discussion about technology, even when it's technically apples and oranges.

This kind of started as an allegorical rant which got off course by the end XD

I have to confess I didn't read all of that page you linked to but I did read the ending where the guy stated that the Vita is competing with the Kindle Fire.

He must be on drugs or something... in what reality does the Kindle Fire compete with the Vita? Because they both have screens on them?

May as well say the Kindle Fire compete's with your car's nav system.

Send over a decent resolution photo. I can tape it to one of my daughter's stuffed animals and we'll sit it at the table. In any photos, we'll caption it something like "The part of Victor Stillwater is played by Pikachu" or something along those lines.

Actually, what WOULD be awesome is if we could get a livestream going...like a G+ hangout or something. Hmmmm...

I want to go, but I doubt I'll be able to, seeing as I'm in the Philippines.

Do you think I can post a picture of my face and just have myself adopted into the group, with my picture in the photos? :D

Comment on Skyrim, SWTOR, and Narrative by Audioepics

Interesting article. I've played both games as well and while I'm a huge Star Wars/KOTOR/Bioware fan, I'd still say Skyrim is my favourite. Focusing on the narrative presentation, though, I would say that I agree with your opinion that the conversations are presented much better in SWTOR. I also think that the voiced protagonist and the simply much better voice acting in SWTOR help a lot. Add to that the fact that SWTOR offers a more linear experience which by its very nature allows for more dramatic storytelling. And it does. You care more about the characters, about the story in SWTOR than you do in Skyrim. Still, as I said, I prefer Skyrim. The reason for this is that the gameplay in SWTOR in between the cinematics is so much more abstract (due to it being an MMO). The fighting is a lot of fun as a game, but it doesn't feel like it's actually happening. When your character dies, they just come back to life. While the story is setting you up as the great hero, you see dozens of other great heroes running around, some with the same companions. Enemies within viewing distance witness you destroying their base and killing their friends and they'll just stand around until you get closer. I'm not putting down SWTOR. I understand these are limitations inherent to an MMO, but there's a weird divide between the highly immersive dialogue scenes and the much more abstract combat gameplay in between. In Skyrim, everything is part of a fluent, coherent whole. It is one experience, not two completely different ones put together. And that makes it easier for me to feel immersed in Skyrim, suspend my disbelief and feel like I am actually the Dragonborn and I'm "in the world". Nevertheless... The Old Republic is still a wonderful game and definitely a giant leap forward for MMOs in terms of drawing people in who enjoy games for immersion and storytelling rather than competition and achievements.
